Truck Repair: VIN, chevy silverado, production options

How do I determine what transmission I have by the VIN? The truck is a 2002 Chevy Silverado. Thanks,Gene

Hello Gene,
Look in the glove compartment, and there is a decal with about 100 three digit codes.
They are RPO codes, meaning regular production options.
They are everything that was installed on that particular vehicle.

Then Google search for RPO codes.

I think the transmission codes are in the M's, but I'm not sure.
