Truck Repair: 97 Chevy Wiper Problem, chevy silverado, chevytalk

I have a 97 Chevy Silverado which the wiper will not work. It would work intermitantly until a month ago. Now it will not work at all. The wiper switch/turn signal works fine except for the wiper options, ie. wiper fluid option/all wiper modes. Sometimes I can hear a grinding noise in the dash and at other times nothing at all. I've wiggled the wires to the motor but to no avail so I am assuming that the switch and or the motor has some defiency but how can I tell? Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Tyler,
There was a long running problem with cold solder joints on the wiper control board, located in the motor housing.
Go to the following site, and select the section for 97 full grown trucks, and search thru the posts for wipers.
You may have to sign up to do a search, but it is free, and well worth the time.
