Truck Repair: signal stock wiring connector, steering colum, gmc 1500

Question
Hi, I'm working on my '96 GMC 1500 pickup with tilt steering. My headlights quit working and I have traced it to the turn signal stock and a wire that has pulled out.  I need to know how to pull the connector apart so I can work on it.  I have the bottom cover off the steering colum and can't remove the top cover to get better access.  I might be able to pull the connector apart if I knew how it is clipped together.

Answer
Hello Ray,
That turn signal "stock" only operates a rod that goes down beside the steering column, and operates the dimmer switch, at least on the ones I have worked on.
And on them, in order to remove that lever, you need to remove the steering wheel.

Yours may be newer than any I have worked on, so don't hold me to that.
