Truck Repair: Small fuel line leak........, tank van, line leak

Question
I have a small leak in the metal gas line tube going from the gas tank to the fuel filter, right under the driver side seat. It looks like it is maybe a small spot that is rusted. Is this something I can fix myself fairly easily? Is there maybe a gas line repair kit available? Or should I have an expert do it? It looks like the tube goes right into the tank, and the leak in it is right next to the filter. It seems to only leak a little when the fuel pump is running and for a short time after I shut the truck off.
Any advice or tips you can give me would be greatly appreciated. It seems like a fairly simple repair, except for the fact that it is going into the gas tank.
Thanks,
Dave

Answer
Hello Dave,
The pressure on that line depends on what type of injection system you have. A throttle body system will have about 13 PSI, mut a multiport or central port will have considerably more pressure.
Opinions differ as to weather repairing those lines with clamp on hoses is a good idea or not.
But there are replacement line assemblies, and I have heard there are repair kits at parts houses for where the filter nuts rust so bad that the line breaks.

You could do either job, but the total replacement would be a lot harder....it would also be the safest.

And the line with the filter isn't the one going into the gas tank, it is the supply line coming from the gas tank.
