Truck Repair: 2002 24 valve cummins, fuel pressure regulator, valve cummins

Question
Engine loss of acceleration at various speeds, dont believe injector problem. Does the cummins have a fuel pressure regulator? or could my problem be a sensor? This is a intermitant problem that is usually worse after engine is first started {cold engine} but still occurs ocasionaly at highway speeds.  This is a 2500 Dodge P\U with approx. 100,000 miles,no repair history other than normal maintanan  Thanks  Mike

Answer
Now there is a fitting to check fuel pressure at the fuel pump.It should be no LESS than 5 PSI with your foot on the floor. If it is lower than 5 PSI,you need a transfer pump.FYI,I would not get it from Dodge rather a Cummins Distributor or dealer. Will be cheaper.I know well sell them for around $160.
