Question
Hi, We have an F150 Ford. It is a 1993 and our problem is it is not chargeing. I sent this question in yesterday but did not say it right. It ran great until I couldn't start it one day. We put a new alternator, regulator, and battery and wiring connectors ingigtion switch, and sylanoid. It would start up after that but would not charge. Now it won't start only click. We put a new starter on it 1 year ago. HELP PLEASE11 Also do you know anyone to help with a 1988 GMC safarai? We can't get the back doors open. The rod dropped and we can't get them open at all. They seem to be stuck at the top of the door. HELP US  We have had a bad few weeks with autos!!  Thanks Michele Moore

Answer
Hello Michele,
Now that sounds like the wire from the alternator to the solenoid may have accidentally been connected to the wrong large post on the solenoid.
Check the Batt post on the alternator, with the engine and key OFF. It should show battery voltage.
The other end of that wire, after passing through any amp meter if used, should connect to the BATTERY post on the solenoid.
The clicking is because the battery isn't charging.

There could be other reasons, but that is a good possibility.

The door....a salvage yard might let you take a door panel off so you can experiment with the mechanism, and see where you can open it with a slim-jim.
Another possibility on that is either a lock smith, wrecker company, or body shop.
The wrecker company may have experience with lock-outs, but I doubt they use that back door. Worth asking though.
