Truck Repair: trouble code, engine cranks, check voltage

Question
I HAVE A 1999 FREIGHTLINER MT45 STEP VAN THAT DIED ON A FREEWAY ON RAMP. THE CODE THAT WAS SET IS 374. THE ENGINE CRANKS BUT WILL NOT START. I CHECKED THE LIFT PUMP AND IT WORKS CAN YOR PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THIS CODE MEANS. THIS TRUCK HAS A 175HP ISB ENGINE.

Answer
Im afraid that the VP44 pump is probably bad.But first check voltage on pin 6 & 7 of the VP44 plug on fuel pump.It has a slide lock on it,meaning when you pull the latch out the wire connector disconnects off the pump.It is on the outside of the connector horizonally.Pin 6 & 7 are the bottom pins with the "smiley face" up.Should have 8-18V while cranking.IF that is good 95% positive the VP44 is bad.I would also check the transfer pump fuel pressure too.Should have 10-15 psi, minimum 5 psi at inlet to fuel pump at high idle(hold throttle to the floor).
