Truck Repair: 86 blazer quit running when heater switch turned on high, fuel pump relay, check engine soon light

Question
I have a 86 chevy S-10 blazer 4x4. I recently replaced the tranny seal.I drove the truck for 2 days after that all systems were good. On Friday I went out and started the truck, let it warm up for 15 minutes. I then got in it turned the heater blower on to the high position and the truck died, no chug,chug...die, it just stopped running. The heater blower stopped running and the service engine soon light came on. I turned the key to the off position and tried to restart, the truck turns over fine but is not getting any gas to the carb. The head lights wont come on, but I have turn signals. When the key is in the on position, and I turn the blower fan to high it makes a clicking sound and the check engine soon light appears breifly. Am I to assume that I have a short somewhere that has affected the fuel pump relay and oil sensor?I have replaced one fuse, that was blown if made no difference in the headlight issue or the fuel pump issue.

Answer
Hello Gwendolyn ,
The clicking sound could be a relay trying to operate, but that's just a guess.
My first question would be, is that the first time the blower was turned to high after the work, but did it work on lower speeds? You did say the blower stopped running.
There is a high speed relay, and if one of the wires from it is shorted, it could have blown a fusible link, which looks like a colored piece spliced to a wire, usually at the starter battery cable connection, or some other terminal directly connected to the battery positive cable.
It is probably the same link that supplies the headlights and ignition.
Be sure to turn the blower off of high, till you find the relay, and what is shorted.
