Truck Repair: L10, engine gasket, air comp

Question
what is the procedure for removing air compressor drive from engine.Gasket leaking between drive and timing gear cover.Air compressor and fuel pump still on engine.

Answer
First you have to put engine on TDC 1 or 6(marked on pulley)Key should be straight up at 12 o'clock.remove fuel pump.Leave air comp on drive(A real pain if you dont have the special 5/8" wrench. You can change the air comp gasket after it is removed.Get new sealing washers for the bolts if you can.Clean gasket area & reassemble. There is a rubber plug in the frt cover, but it really does not show the gear timing, only if it is on TDC 1 you will see the mark on camshaft only.
