I recently bought an 87 Dodge Dakota 4x4,3.9 V6, Automatic trans..
I have an intermittent idiling problem. Sometimes it idles OK, other times when I'm coming to a stop, the engine stalls. It will immediately start, but I must hold the gas down at a fast idle to keep it running. This happens if hot or cold. Choke is working, EGR has been replaced and vacuum is 20#..On the road above 20MPH it runs OK.

This may not be your problem, but I have some Dakotas in my fleet, and if the battery ever got drawn real low, and just recharged without unhooking the battery, strange things would happen, including not idling.
It would continue till after the battery is unhooked, and then reconnected.
Try it, it might take care of yours.
