Truck Repair: 1996 f350 fuel problem, oil pressure switch, crank sensor

Question
I have a 1996 F350 4x4 w/ 460 and manual trans.  It has dual tanks and I have been experiencing fuel problems.  I drive this truck everyday (or I did). The truck will shut off sporatically regardless of the engine speed or load. Sometimes it would be days between shutoffs, sometimes it would do it 4-5 times in one day. I have been able to get it restarted by turning the ignition on and off repeatedly (fuel pumps do run for a second or two) but now that doesn't work.  With the ignition in the on position, I get fuel to the rail only during the initial pump run. There is plenty of fuel flow at this point.  Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Jeff,
i work more on Chevies, and that condition would have me looking for a crank sensor to see if the signal is getting to the computer that the engine is running, or at least cranking.
I don't know where it would be on a Ford, but that is what I would suspect.
On a Chevy, once oil pressure is built up, the crank sensor is no longer needed to keep the pump running, because there is an oil pressure switch that also sends power to the fuel pump as long as there is oil pressure, which also indicates the engine is running.

I am relatively sure Ford would have a similar system, but just don't have experience with them.
