Truck Repair: Ford Ranger door switch, door latch assembly, door switch

Question
On a 95 Ford Ranger where is the door switch located on the drivers side?  The interior light is not working like it should and the door ajar light on the dash board is always lit, thus I suspect the door switch is broken but I cannot find the switch.  Looking in a repair manual also does not describe the location of the switch.  Do you know where this switch is located?  Thank you in advance

Answer
Hi Bruce,
The door latch assembly has wires connected to it inside the door. The latch closing or opening operates a switch in the latch itself.
To gain access to it, you need to remove the inner door panel.
With the door open, use a screwdriver to close the latch to see what is working. I believe there are two notches, and it needs to close to the second to turn the ajar light off.

Someone could have gone into the wire harness in the hinge area and intentionally cut the wire so the light didn't come on every time.
