Truck Repair: locked 4 wheel drive, ford f 150, drive shaft

Question
I have a 2005 Ford F-150 FX off road. I have noticed a shutter at times when I start off and the truck sometimes feel as if the brake is on when I am slowing down. I raised the front wheels off the ground and found that the front drive shaft is turning when I rotate the front wheels. This is not normal when the truck is not in four wheel drive is it? I am going to the dealer but I thought I would check with you first, Thanks

Answer
Hello Gary,
Just jack one front wheel off the ground. With both up, it may just be the friction or tackyness of the oil turning stuff. You can also see if you can turn the front driveshaft by hand with the wheels ON the ground. If you can, it isn't locked.

However, if it is locked, and they tell you it is supposed to be, get them to show you another new truck, and see if it is locked also. I haven't touched a 2005 yet, so I really am not sure. It may be just fine.
