Truck Repair: 89 GMC P/U, battery cables, bare metal

battery is good/starter replaced/all wires checked. Battery stays charged. Can get it started with a boost from a alive vehicle but not a starter box or a unstarted vehicle.... what could cause this?

Hi Krista,
Take the battery cables off the battery, and remove the bolts from them and clean them.
Peel the rubber cover back and clean the ring lugs also.
They need to be clean bare metal. Get any black shiny scale off where contact with the battery is made.
