Truck Repair: 2001 Ford F150 XL 4x4 hesitates, auto repair shop, ford dealership

Question
12484.1

I have a 2001 Ford F150 XL 4x4 with 77,000 miles, 4.6 V-8 auto. Sometimes (not all the time) when I hit 30 - 40 mph the truck will jerk slightly. It's like the truck hesitates, where should I start trouble shooting, transmission or motor 1st?

Should I take the truck to a trany shop or general auto repair shop?

Thanks

Answer
Hello Ed,
Probably to a Ford Dealership service department. Let them search for recalls, and if it has cruise control, there is probably a recall for that also.

Other than that, I would tend to try a general repair shop first. Get some recommendations from satisfied customers on shops in your area.
