Truck Repair: electrical, fuse block, wire insulation


Question
I have a 1967 Chevy 10 fleetside picup......
    First of all Thank You for your Time.....
I Have purchased a New Fuse box, as the original box has rusted out. My Question is how do I switch out the boxes. Is there a set of steps to follow.I'm sure of one thing, Auto electronics scare me. I have a volt meter, and some patience.

Hello Jack,
First, unhook the battery.
Then, as you remove the old fuse block, there will not be any electricity to hurt anything.
Some little tape numbers would be nice, but you can mark the wires, or draw a diagram where each connects so you get them back on the same place.
When you connect the wires, just make sure the connectors don't twist sideways to where the metal of connectors from adjoining contacts touch each other.
Also, if you pull some wire through the firewall, make sure you don't cut through the wire insulation, causing bare wire to touch metal.
If your fuse block is so rusted, you may need to replace some of the wire ends if they are corroded.
I believe you will find it to be easier than you are thinking.
