Truck Repair: charging problem, battery drain, voltage regulator

have a 74 e-300 ford. the battery won't hold a charge. have had the alternator checked and it is good.also replace voltage regulator and selenoid.also have a brand new battery. is it possible to check the voltage regulator to see if it is working correctly. if so how? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes it is possible to check that regulator, but I don't have the steps right here. In my town, we have a shop that rebuilds alternators and starters, and he knows all about those external regulators, so see if you have a place like that.
