Truck Repair: van starting problems, dodge van, couple nights

Question
I have a 93 dodge van with a very well miled 318. It used to start with just the turning of the key. Now it will take forever with much cranking over and over,(sometimes I have to leave it sit after I have tried and tried with much pedal pumping)-after I stop for a few minutes it will start with much choking and spitting with my easing it gas. Then it runs like always. During the day even after turning it off for an hr. or two or three or four it will start and run fine. But after sitting all night same problem-never did this before even when it has been out of tune. Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Pat,
Actually, it sounds like the fuel is draining back into the tank, and having to be pumped up, displacing the air that got into the system. It might be assisted by the cooling down creating a vacuum in the tank.
Try a couple nights of loosening the gas cap for the night, and replace it in the morning.
Running some injector cleaner through a few tanks of gas might help also.
