Truck Repair: Antifreeze Leak, antifreeze leak, bright sunlight

Question
What is the best way to fix a small leak of antifreeze at the intake manifold where it meets the block, front of engine. Only leaks when engine is running before it warms up. I had it to the dealer while it was under warranty for the same problem 4 years ago. I have 66,000 miles on it now. When I changed the antifreeze it started leaking again in the same area. Dex-Cool antifreeze.

Answer
Hi Mike,
Where the intake manifold touches the block there is no coolant.
Where the coolant would be is the intake manifold gasget between it and the heads, or the thermostat housing. There may also be a temperature sender in that area. Possibly even a heater hose connection.
All of those need to be looked at closely to be sure of where the coolant is escaping, so you don't spend high dollars on the wrong repair.
If you know when to expect the leak, get a good light, and be out of the bright sunlight, so you can see better. A cheap mechanic mirror on a handle, or a little dentist type mirror can help see areas like under the edge of a hose.
Good luck,
