Truck Repair: Leaking transmission, 95 Sonoma 4X4, gmc sonoma, 4x4 van

Question
Van,

I have a 1995 GMC Sonoma 4X4 with an automatic transmission.  It's begun leaking transmission fluid usually when I'm on the highway.  It doesn't seem to happen when I'm on back roads.  I've removed all for the skid plates and the shield between the transmission and motor.  My first thought was that it was the front seal leaking.  However the torque converter and flywheel are completely dry and I don't see any fluid around them.  Also, after I come off the highway I can see transmission fluid dripping off of the starter.  I thought it might be coming from the dipstick tube, but that look fairly dry too.  My question is, where else could it be leaking from.  I did notice some sort of breather tube attached to the dipstick, but was unable to trace where it went to.  Thank you for any help.

Steve

Answer
Hello Steve,
I appologize for not answering the question sooner.
I was out of town, and signed out on vacation, but the All Experts system let me down, and didn't get my vacation posted.
Check the lines from the transmission to the oil cooler in the radiator. They can rub together, and then crack.
Check for the leak with the tranny in gear.
There is also a vent out the top of the housing that could be blowing, or drawing fluid out of.
The tube you are looking at might be the throttle valve cable tube.
