Truck Repair: I have a 1998 ford ranger..., vacuum hoses, exhaust pressure

Question
I have a 1998 ford ranger 2 wheel drive(35,000Miles)The check engine light keeps comming on. I had it checked at Autozone and they said it was an EGR valve. I replaced it and a day or so later the light came back on. Sometimes it goes out and then it may come back on when I refuel. At the present time the light has been on for a month.

Answer
Check all those little vacuum hoses, and check the connector for the EGR valve electrical connector.
There is also a little gizmo that has two vacuum hoses connected to it, each of which seems to go to the exhaust system...check those hoses. That is the EGR transducer, which reads the exhaust pressure, and operates the EGR valve.
