Truck Repair: Ford F150 not shifting from Park, ford f150, foot brake

Question
I have a 1997 Ford F150. I cannot get it out of park. I noticed the problem about two weeks ago, shortly  after I tried to drive a few feet with parking brake on. I found that by re-engaging and releasing the parking brake, I could get it to shift from park. This AM, nothing would do it. Thanks

Answer
Try applying the foot brake and shifting from park with the engine OFF. Then start it in neutral.
Look in your owners manual for transmission interlock override. And a fuse may be all it is, but I haven't personally seen this problem yet. But I do know that some vehicles have instructions in the owners manual to over ride that system.
