Truck Repair: Brake Master Cylinder, chevy s10, brake master cylinder

Question
So I was bleeding the brakes after replacing the front pads on my 96 chevy S10 with antilock brakes, and as my wife stepped on the pedal for me, brake fluid shot up and out from the bottem of the rear resivoir, with enough pressure to hit the open hood above it. Is this normal, or do I need more repairs?

Thanks

Jeff

Answer
Hi Jeff,
Kinda normal. It is coming up through the hole in the bottom of the reservoir as the piston comes forward, before it passes that hole and blocks it off.
During that pumping, just have the cover in place.
Get that fluid off the paint, though. It will remove paint almost as well as paint remover.
