Truck Repair: fuel filter, dodge ram 4x4, fuel filter

i have a 1995 dodge ram 4x4 1500
i need to know where the fuel filter is located
some say in the fuel tank others say along the side i need to change the filter my truck runs fine then after a while then acts as if it were running out of gas   i.ve been told it needs a fuel filter but i cannot find it    thanks

Think about this for a minute...if the fuel filter is dirty enough to make it run bad after a while, would you expect it to get undirty for a while when it first starts?
I don't think you have a fuel filter problem, although I believe it is mounted to the inner edge of the frame, about under the driver.
But you might want to try removing the gas cap when it starts to act like it is running out of gas, to see if maybe a vacuum is being formed inside the tank, starving the engine for fuel.
It is also possible that you have a sensor problem associated with the engine, that isn't used till the engine warms up.
A plugged exhaust system, such as rust flakes stacking up against the inside of a spark arrestor could also explain running good for a while, then bogging down.
