Truck Repair: oil problem, oil pressure guage, cummins diesel

Question
I have a 2000 1 ton Dodge with a Cummins diesel,  48K miles, 1200 miles since last oil change.  Lately smells like burned oil, especially when cold (Arizona). Also notice oil pressure guage is reading above the usual normal.  No leakes and  level on dipstick hasn't changed.Any suggestions? Many thanks for any help.

Answer
The B series engines after 91 has lots of oil pressure. When cold could be around 70 psi at idle. They usually run around 60 psi while driving down the road & engine at operating temperature.Keep an eye on the oil level. Is this one the 12 or 24 valve engine? The new 24 valve engines are not suppose to smoke hardly any.Dodge did have a problem with the oil gauge acting funny & it was the sensor. They might have to calibrate the truck ECM.
