Vintage Cars: difficulty in re starting my 1982 380sl Mercedes after it has been running but shut off for a short time., airflow sensor, tail pipes

Question
I have a 1982 mercedes 380sl. I have not problem starting the car after it has been sitting all night or after it has been parked while I am at work and restart it after 8 hours of sitting but if I start the car and then try to restart it after about 15minutes to one hour the car will not start easily at all. If I turn it off and try to restart after a few minutes it is fine but any longer and it will not catch, it sounds like it is turning over but it takes many tries for it to finally start. Tonight I tried so many times to start it and finally the battery died and I had to boost the battery, the man who boosted my car said it was probably the carborator, what do you think. I have a new battery, new alternator, the car sounds like it is not catching.

Answer
your K Jet system can be a bit tough to diagnose
your problem lies in one of the following
Loss of rest pressure from leaking injector, check valve at the fuel pump , leaking cold start injector
Airflow sensor not adjusted properly
Sticking control plunger.
How many miles and when was the last time injectors were changed/serviced
Does the oil smell like gas?
Do you smell gas when shut off hot?
What color are plug tips, or  at tail pipes
