Vintage Cars: Avanti, fiat alfa romeo, raymond loewy

Question
Was crazy about an Avante in the '60s, I believe.  Can you tell me who made it and why it went belly-up?

Answer
I would like to know why you think a knowledgeable FIAT/Alfa Romeo mechanic
would know about the Avanti. I was 24 when Studebaker introduced yet another
Raymond Loewy design (the Avanti) in 1962. Many Studebakers had really good
design and engineering. Marketing was their weak point.

When Studebaker was disappeared the Avanti rights were sold to a private
group and it is still being made today. By the way, it was not a good idea
to lug a Studie V-8--but then, lugging any engine is nonsense.
