Vintage Cars: mg midget/triumph spitfire, drive shaft, wear gloves

hi, im tryin to drop a mg midget engine into my spitfire. my only issue is, the tranny where the drive shaft connects. my old tranny had an adapter and the one im droping in has a spindle on it, im not sure what to do? please help.

so you are changing the transmission as well as the engine?

I cant figure out what you mean, sorry.

The "adapter on the gearbox shaft is usually a sweat-fit, to get it off it needs heating with a blowtorch and whacking off with a hammer - they often fly for miles when they come off so watch yourself and dont do it near anything expensive. (Really, they Shoot off the shaft because they're such a perfect fit, wear gloves and keep your head and hands out of the way when heating and bashing)


If thats not what youre after give me photos of the "round peg/square hole" scenario and i'll see what I can muster.
