Vintage Cars: 1985 bmw 528e -- no power to fuel pump?, 1985 bmw 528e, bmw 528e

Question
hi there
we currently have this car (1985 BMW 528e) in the shop because it would cut off while driving - they have replaced the fuel tank, fuel pump, and fuel filters plus electrical wires that were old. the shop called and said that the car will only start when they by-pass the computer? they said that everything they have replaced is working great but the comp wont give any power to the fuel pump or tank?
any ideas or answers as to why this is would be appreciated because the mechanics are stumped!
                           thanks so much!

Answer
it is not rare to have a bad cpu on these cars, they control idle mixture, and other features of the enigne. youi may have a  bad relay or crap ECU. Although they can be bypassed, not a good idea in the long run.  may need to troubleshoot the cpu and decide if it can be refurbished or needs replaced.
If you send me an email adress I can send you the PDF files for fuel delivery, they can then trouble shoot
Thanks
