Vintage Cars: 1929 Hupmobile Century Coupe 2 dr 4 place, 1929 hupmobile, model a cars

Question
Does the 1929 8cyl 118 WB have a longer hood than the 1929 6 cyl 114 WB? Did all the Century A models {6} have dual sidemounts or just the deluxe?

Answer
Hugh,

The 1928-1929 Model M Eight Cylinder "Century Eight" cars were built on a 120" wheelbase. The hoods of this model were not interchangeable with the Century Six Model A cars - they are actually different in length.

Also, as to sidemounts on the Century Six cars, I do not believe that distinct trim levels were offered as "models" (standard or deluxe), but there were option "packages" available where you could equip your Century Six with various upgrades such as sidemounts, disc or wire wheels, chrome plating and so on. Bumpers were not even standard items on early Centuries, but were made standard later in the model year (probably second series).

Regards,

Dick.
