Vintage Cars: HuppMobile, motor car corporation, mt publishing

Question
I would like to find out how I can reach the HuppMobile Club. My StepDad fondly brought the HuppMobile up in conversation the other day. I would like to find out if there is a book on this car. Thank you.

Answer
Thanks for your inquiry.

The Hupmobile Club's website can be viewed at the following URL:

http://clubs.hemmings.com/frameset.cfm?club=hupmobile

The email address of the club's membership director is: hupmobil@99main.com

My particular Hupmobile of choice is the 1941 Skylark. I am the third owner of a very nicely preserved, original unrestored Skylark, one of 354 ever manufactured.

However, the Hupp Motor Car Corporation had a long, illustrious history, from 1909 through 1941, manufacturing over 650,000 automobiles during that time. The definitive book on Hupmobile history is "The Hupmobile Story - From Beginning to End" by William Cuthbert, published by MT Publishing Company. Unfortunately, it is out of print, so you'll have to find a copy on eBay or at a used book store.

Also, a nice historical summary can be found in the Vol 16 No 1 Automobile Quarterly issue, written by Jeff Godshall. Also, another nice article appears in the Collectible Automobile December 1989 issue, detailing the decline of the Hupp Motor Car Corporation during the Great Depression. The story of the Skylark is detailed in the Collectible Automobile December 1989 issue, and also on my website, www.hupmobileskylark.com.
