Vintage Cars: 250 C has no A/C, mercedes benz 200, mechanical woes

Question
Hi,
I thinking about buying a 1971 Mercedes 250 C. Apparently it never had A/C
installed. I would like to install A/C on it and am wondering if this is
recommended and what the cost would be? Seller is asking $7000 for this
car. Do you have an idea of this car's value. Odometer says 63,000 but not
sure if this has clicked over once already. The car is in very good but not
excellent condition.

Thank you,

Sarah

Answer
although the 71 250 coup is a sought after car -for 7K it better be next to concours condition and free of mechanical woes, no rust, road worthy, 63,000 is low miles , for that price should be actual.  I would also look for full service history.
Adding AC is not easy, it would be a unit under the dash , but it would also rob the engine of power.  It could probably be done for $1500. I just sold a 71 220 , with exdcellent mechanicals and perfect interior for $1500.  Do your homework on these old cars,if well maintained can last a lifetime, if not maintained can be a black hole...let me know if I can help further
