Jeff, I'd like to purchase a 1971 olds cutlass convertible but am unsure if the engine is orig. The engine color is red, I think from 68-74 they were supposed to be gold? Even if so I was told the engine was rebuild and repainted red. Where could I find the engine stamp? Its a 350 rocket and is it possible its just an engine paint?

Tough question.  The father of a good friend of mine had a '71 Custom Cruiser, and I could have sworn the engine was blue.  I've seen gold Olds blocks, but those were from the 50's and early 60's (the "golden rockets").  To be sure, you should post your question here:
