Vintage Cars: car value, liter engine, desirable car

Question
I own a 1971 Mercedes 300 SEL 6.3. It starts but not drivable. Only will go for about 1/8th mile before it dies. After market (dripping) paint job. But the rest seems original. No rust. Can you give me a rough value for the car.

Answer
Hello Kim
Depends....rust is a big killer of these cars. Since you mention rust free , you are ahead of the game the other big factor is the suspension( air bag sytem)  If the suspension in the back is functioning and there is no or little rust, this is a very desirable car. Mercedes folks think of this as a true MB classic complete with a large 6.3 liter engine and chassis to match THe other big factor is maintenance records, do you have them? How is the interior  and does the climate control work , heat and air. these are all factors in pricing a 6.3
How many miles, when was it last driven as road worthy
Generally these big cars can command up to 7 to 13 thousand in near perfect condition, average 4 to 5 thousand for a driver, less the more that is worng with it. Provide me with more details and I can be more specific
