Vintage Cars: volvo 1800e, pan gasket, borg warner

Question
Hi Ron,
you've given me excellent advice in the past regarding the transmission on this car.In the summer as you suspected the leak of at fluid was due to an overfill. Now however I have a puddle after leaving thecar for 5-6 days in 1 spot.I have a borg warner automatic transmission T35 .The car is still running well and I'd like to keep it that way.I was told that the seals front and back could solve my problem. Is this the case? Would you know what seals to order?I would order them before I have the mechanic pull the transmission this way it'll reduce down time and lift time as well.Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Are you sure of the location of the leak?  Could be as simple as a pan gasket or totque convertor drain plug. If you can clean the area really well and then with a stong light, after it sits for a day or so, look for leak drops and where they originate. Keep clean newspaper under it
How big is the puddle?  A few drops can sometimes look worse than it is, that is why I use newspapaers to look for leaks.  replacing seals is a big deal, so make sure before you jump into the project. Let me know and good luck
