Question
i just got my fathers car and i was told that there where only 3 of them built with a 4 speed on the floor i also belive that it has a larger motor in it but not sure.  he was the only owner and he ordered the car that way.  what can you tell me about my car.  i also have the vin if you could tell me where i could type it in somewhere to get some answers.  the vin is     262376p244962.  any help would be great to find how rare my car is.

Answer
You would need a 17-digit VIN for me to research the car further, and Detroit didn't start using them until 1979.  A '66 Bonneville with a 4-speed would be rare, but they certainly made far more than 3 of them (I've seen at least 2 of them myself).  You need to search the Web for sites devoted to Pontiacs that also have a forum.  You can post your question there to find out more detail on the car.  Does your father have any documentation to go with the car?  Original title, original bill of sale, build sheet from the factory- those sorts of things?  As he's the original owner, having them would add greatly to the value of the car, especially if it's a coupe or convertible.  Sedans are worth a lot less, but a 1966 Bonneville is still a great-looking car (inside and out), and is one of my personal favorites.  Take good care of it!
