Vintage Cars: 1985 Cadillac Seville, 1985 cadillac seville, cadillac seville

Question
Hi, i was looking at a 1985 cadillac seville for sale that has 80,000 original miles and is in outstanding condition. I'm trying to find out how much the car is valued at. Its a 4.9 V8, electric everything, and white leather interior with the Continental kit. Do you have any idea about what it is worth? The dealer is asking $4,200 and that includes a parts car as well. Good deal or not? Thanks for the help

Answer
This is a tough one, because there are no real "book" or online values for this car.  It's too old to be a typical used car, but too new to be considered a "classic."  My gut feeling is the price is too high, regardless of the condition.  "Bustleback" Sevilles (1980-1986) have little collector value at this point, so in the market it's just another nice used car.  If you like it, go for it, but don't kid yourself into thinking you're going to earn money on your investment in the near future.  It's all about supply and demand, and the demand just isn't there for a mid-80's Seville.
