Question
Am trying to identify a small block chevy engine for rebuild, which I've had for several years.  I believe it to be a 1957 283.  I need help to correctly I.D. the engine.

Info I have is as follows:

1.) "cast nmbrs" on driver side rear of blk are: 2 GM
                                                 3731548

2.) "cast date" of blk on passenger side rear of blk is:
     G1157

3.) "I.D. stamping" on machined pad on passenger side, in
     front of head is: T73IG

4.) "cast nmbrs" on each head are: 3731554 and "casting
      date" G2657.

5.) "cast nmbrs" on 2 bbl intake manifold are: 3732690
                                              GM  NO 1 T
     and E2257.

6.) The blk has no side motor mounts and 2 "Freeze plugs"
     per side.

Answer
I don't have all the answers, but I think this is pretty easy with what I found.

This is a 1957 283 engine.  the casting dates are all July 1957 withing a few days of each other, so all the parts pretty much match and are probably the ones the engine left the factory with.

The block casting could be a 265 or 283, but the head casting says 283 only according to one source.

If you have the block apart, just measure the bore, the 265 will be 3.750 and the 283 will be 3.875.  if the engine has been bored at some point, that could complicate things.  The stroke should be 3" either way.
