Vintage Cars: 53 chevy 1/2 ton and Vintage Air, squirrel cage fan, vintage air

Question
Hi there!

Thanks for making yourself available, it really is great of you. I have a question about Vintage Air a/c systems if you're familiar.

I just purchased a very nice 1953 Chevrolet 3100 1/2 ton Pickup. The previous owner had a vintage air a/c system installed, and one part stopped working. She had it exchanged for a new one but never replaced it. The part must be a blower--seems to install under the dash. It looks, essentially, like a squirrel cage fan.

If you know anythign about these systems, would you say this is a replacement part I could install (I'm decently handy but know very little about car repair) myself or should I take it to a shop?

Thanks for your help!
Sarah

Answer
By Vintage Air do you mean the modern company that makes A/C units to put in older cars?  If so, just contact that company.  I am not familiar with their products.

Best advice I can give is look under the dash and around the firewall under the hood and see if you can find the old part.  Examine it and with the new part in your hands you should be able to figure out how it goes on.  These aren't usually all that complicated.
