Vintage Cars: 71 thunderbird, landau models, ebay

Question
Hi. My dad and I have a 71 thunderbird. We are trying to sell it, because we do not have the funds to restore it.It has the 429 thunderjet engine in it and has 76,000 miles on it. It runs and drives, and it can burn some rubber. The interior is white leather, and is in fairly decent shape. The floor behind the drivers seat is gone but we are going to patch it. Also it has some rust around the fenders and a little at the bottom of the doors, but it is still a solid car.I am hoping you can give us a close estimate on what we might be able to sell it for.
thank you very much for reading and hope to hear back soon.
Jon

Answer
Which body style is it?  The standard 2-door (the fastback) is pretty common, while the 2 and 4-door Landau models are rare, so they're worth a little more.  From what you're telling me about the rust, it's not good when it comes to the value of the car.  These cars haven't hit collector status yet, so there's little demand for them in the marketplace.  Which means the expense of restoring this car would be far greater than what anyone would be willing to pay for it.  Unless it has some unusual options like the power sunroof (all '69-'71 T-Birds had the 429 motor), I doubt you'd get much more than $3500 for it.  And that would be from a die-hard, early 70's T-Bird fan.  The best way to find him or her is to put it on eBay.
