Vintage Cars: 69 camaro 230 motor, hemmings motor news, land speed records

Question
I'm looking for a little more power without going crazy.  I thought exhaust headers but the air intake and exhaust manifold bolt to the block together.  Please help..

Answer
I didn't think it would be as hard as it is myself to find modifications for the straight 6.   I know that there used to be manifolds both intake and exhaust, and there I am sure you can get different cam grinds, plus do some work on the heads.  You can modify the exhaust yourself for more flow.

I will ask you to give the owner of the National IMpala Association a call  here is their web site:

http://www.nationalimpala.com  They did put 6 cyl engines in the Impala and he may have some ideas.

This site has a split exhaust manifold but for a 62? I think, not sure it will work:

Check out Hemmings Motor News, and remember that the full size, Nova and Chevelle engines are probably the same so check all those clubs and businesses.

Don't give up.

I am also going to think a little "out of the box" and give you this link:

THis has lots of sources for speed parts for land speed record attempts.  Why?  Because the people that go after land speed records tend to recycle old cars and get great enjoyment out of making something odd, unusual or originally slow, go REAL fast!  Flatheads are all over the place at an LSR meet.  and I bet some of them race straight 6 engines.

Start calling, e-mailing and I bet you can find someone that specializes in these engines.

Also, google street rod associations.  This is another group that has people that work with old and oddball stuff. (that is a complement, not a slam, I admire those that take the road less travelled....so to speak).
