Vintage Cars: Value, vw westfalia camper, car nuts

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1968 VW All Original. It has 1095 miles on it. Just curious.  Thanks for your time.

ANSWER: Wow.  If the miles can be legitimately documented, if it's truly original and in excellent condition, then the sky's the limit on this one.  A 1962 VW Westfalia camper, with 42,000 miles and in near-perfect condition, brought $99,000 at an auction last year.  Do you have any documentation to prove the mileage- in other words, how do we now the odometer hasn't turned over once or twice?  This is critical to the value of the car.

QUESTION: Well, It was small town driven to school for senior year, then parked. then driven for 6 months and parked. I can ask my granny if there is doc.

Answer
Great- what you need are maintenance records, showing oil changes, tune-ups, repairs, etc...  If it's truly been sitting for all this time, then those probably don't exist.  An expert, looking at the car, can probably verify the miles and condition.  Maybe notarized letters from your grandmother's neighbors, stating that the car has been in storage all this time, might help.  Regardless, keep me posted.  We car nuts always love hearing about vehicles like this!
