Vintage Cars: 1956 ford f-600 vin location, vin number, frame rail

are you or any of your staff able to tell me of an alternate vin location on this vehicle other than on the door... truck has not been on the road for over ten years and then reg card that remains in truck is not readable even with magnifying glass despite our best efforts ... we bought our farm almost 11 years ago and the truck came with it ..... over the years its become a hobby to play with now we have no idea on how to register it the vin tag that used to be on the door has since long been lost / removed / or otherwise disposed of ...... i not even sure how many characters are supposed to be in the vin any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated

The vin number should be on the frame.  One site suggested that Ford put them on TOP of the frame rail, just forward of the cowling (firewall) on the left side.  May be very hard to find and read unless you have the front clip removed.
