Vintage Cars: 1940 Chrysler, holiday parades, chrysler corporation

Question
Where can we find information on a 1940 Chrysler Royal four door convertible, which we own.  We believe it may have been a parade car...looking for any info on car..history..vin number...number made...any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Answer
Are you sure about the make and year?  My research shows the last Chrysler 4-door convertible was built in 1938, while Plymouth fielded the last Chrysler Corporation 4-door convertible in 1939.  It's possible it's a custom creation, and if it was built in 1940 it could be quite valuable.  4-door convertibles were often made for service clubs like the Lions, Rotary, Shriners and so forth for holiday parades.  You'll have to find the VIN on the car somewhere in order to give you any more info, but you can research this on your own.  You need to find Chrysler websites that support forums, where you can ask questions from the real experts on this car.  Regardless, hang onto the Chrysler- I can't help but feel it's worth a fair amount of money, regardless of its true history.
