Vintage Cars: Asking price for a 1964 Chevrolet c-10 pickup truck., sonoma county california, chevrolet c

Question
I am interested in buying the above-mentioned '64 Chevy longbed pickup from the grandson of the original owner.  It was bought new to be used as a ranch truck, it seems well-maintained at only 51,000 original miles, and has no dents and some acceptable weathering.  The truck starts and runs well, the brakes need attention but other than that, it seems solid.  I have a mechanic looking at it right now, but would like to know if the asking price of $2500 is a fair one.  I will, of course, base much of my decision on the mechanic's report, but I'd like to know what a fair price would be for Sonoma County, California.

Answer
Hi Lawrence,

Price seems fair enough to all parties--not a bargain, not a gouge. Their ultimate value at this time is not as high as the 50s trucks, but you have room to fix the truck up and come out just fine but I wouldn't suggest a full restoration if you want to see your money back anytime soon.
A V-8 would be worth more than a 6 cylinder by about $500-750 dollars.

best,
