Vintage Cars: 1940 Chrysler Royle Coupe, muffler body, open cars

Question
I want to sell this car.  How much can I expect to get for it.  Everything is original. Several windows are cracked. Upholstery and dash show wear and age. It needs brakes and a muffler.  Body is great.  It runs great.

Answer
HI Sharon,

Sounds like a #4 car to me (scale of 1-5, #1 being show car beautiful, #5 kind of shabby maybe not running, #3 a clean average with no damage.

Id' guess $2,500-$3,500 would be fair to both parties, but of course I haven't seen it. Any rust or body damage and the price drops.

In prewar cars, Fords and Chevys rule the roost, or open cars if you have one, of any type bring decent prices.

But in today's economy, not many people want project cars from the 40s. So buyers are few these days. If you got cash money offer around $3,000, I'd sure consider it if I were you. There's not much more in the car I don't think.

best of luck,

Joe
