Vintage Cars: GTO, 67 gto, troise

Question
Good Evening
I have a 1967 GTO in the garage that has been around for many years. It is not original, it has a 1972 Pontiac 400 with a 1966 tri power set up with a different rear end, original 4 speed, all the chrome no missing parts. If you see this go by it looks like a million bucks, a few dings in the bumpers, body is not straight but only an expert (or me the owner) could tell Engine runs strong shifts good ect. There is some undercarrige rot but no rust or bad paint on the body, interior is pretty good, not ratty at all. All the decals, body chrome is intact but many aftermarket parts. The top is black vinyl and in very good shape .Could you give me some idea of what this thing is worth on the open market ?

                     Thanks  Dino

Answer
Hi Dino,

I could only take a rough guess here without seeing the actual car.

My reasoning would be like this:

1. A non-original car is worth less than an original car

2. The car sounds like a "#3" condition, which is "average", or a "daily driver".

Given those two principles, I would start with the value of a stock '67 GTO in #3 condition, and then deduct from that.

Doing that, I come up with something around $4,000-$5,000.

Best thing you can do is test the market. Advertise for a price you'd really like to get, which you would be satisfied with, and see who comes around and what they say. Alternatively, you could auction it on Ebay, put a reserve price (hidden from bidders) on it, and start at $100 and see what happens.

Good luck with it,
