Car Insurance -- Is Doing Without An Option?

1. If you decide NEVER to drive then you'll never be a law-breaker even without auto insurance coverage. However, think of emergency and other situations that will put you in an awkward position if you limit yourself this way.

2. Some folks insist on driving without an auto insurance policy even though they know it's against the law. When they get caught, this could have dire consequences on their lives afterwards.

In mild cases such people get to pay hefty fines along with a suspension/revocation of their registration or license. For those who get the worse deal, they spend some time behind bars.

3. Adequate coverage will help you recover if your car is stolen, totaled or damaged. You'll be the one to benefit in this situation -- NOT the law enforcement agent.

4. What happens if there are liability claims against you? I hope you know that lawyers can go after your investments to get reasonable compensation for their clients. How do you think the judge will treat your case when it's proven that you're uninsured?

Looking at the above reasons, being without auto insurance certainly isn't a viable alternative. Here are better options...

1. To ensure you are NOT a law-breaker, get at least the state's minimum auto insurance policy requirements. This should be good enough if yours is an old car.

If you car is still new, don't go with this. Get comprehensive and collision coverage. Take a step further even and also get coverage from uninsured motorists. This will do you a world of good. However, drop the liability part to the barest minimum.

Dropping or reducing the liability part of your policy doesn't mean exposing yourself to liability claims. Go for an umbrella policy. It gives you far better liability coverage for a lot less.

2. While you take every other step to reduce your rate, don't forget that the surest way to pay less is to do thorough comparison shopping...

The quoting process is entirely easy, quick and non-obligatory. In just five minutes, you should be through with a quotes site. Most of these sites return quotes from at least five different insurers. This can save you hundreds of dollars if done right.
