Trucks are wonderful things. They’re truly the backbone of our economy, ensuring that parcels and cargo get where they need to go quickly and accurately. This doesn’t mean, however, that all truck drivers are created equal, or that all truck trips go smoothly. Just ask the auto insurers that had to pay for these accidents. For example!
#5) The Postman Always Wrecks Twice
This postman made a simple mistake: he forgot to throw the parking brake. It’s reasonable. After all, he’s just running in and running back out again. What’s the worst that could happen? Momentum, that’s what. It may seem odd that the truck runs the loop-de-loop around that island twice, but what’s happening is that the truck gathers enough speed rolling all the way down the hill, and the wheels are locked in a place where momentum lets it turn backwards in circles. That’s at least until it hits something.
#4) Farther…Farther…Farth-TOO FAR!
Backing up in a truck is incredibly difficult. We’re talking about a very long, very heavy vehicle that’s hard to control at the best of times. Truckers are a professional class for a reason. That said, there is such a thing as being careless, even if nobody is behind you. Plus, physics really aren’t on your side here: if enough weight goes off the edge, it can literally drag the truck until it hits equilibrium. That will wreck your transmission.
#3) Sleeping at The Wheel Does Not End Well
Yes, the driver of this truck was asleep at the wheel. Fortunately, he was wearing his seatbelt, and the speeds were low enough that nobody was seriously hurt. Well, at least physically: the fact that the guy passed out at the wheel, crashed into another truck, and then became an Internet sensation probably did not do wonders for his career. But the other driver…very athletic for a man his size!
#2) "What Was That Clearance Again?"
Believe it or not, what this trucker does is actually pretty common. In fact, in Boston, MA, the Longfellow Bridge is infamous for having at least one or two U-Hauls, driven by college students moving into their dorms, get stuck under it every year. Then again, those are 18 year olds who have never been to the city before and don’t bother to read the maps. This is a supposed professional who apparently decided that in a battle between his rig and a bridge, the rig would win. Well…not so much. But thanks for playing!
#1) Everyone Is A Little Forgetful Sometimes
Sure, we could go with videos of massive destruction or utter ridiculousness. But for us, the funniest one comes when somebody makes a simple, human mistake. Let’s face it, we’ve all done this. We’ve left a coffee on the roof, or a box in a parking space, or a briefcase on a trunk. So truckers are going to make the same mistake. Of course, in this case, it’s a little more…ah…destructive.
