Dodge RAM Van Specs

The Chrysler Corporation produced the multi-passenger Dodge Ram van from 1971 through 2003. The automaker based the van on the Dodge Ram pickup truck with identical designations. The van came as the half-ton 1500, the 3/4--ton 2500 and the 1-ton 3500 models.

Power

  • The base engine of the 2003 Dodge Ram van was the 3.9-liter V6, providing 175 horsepower and 225 ft.-lbs. of torque. The most common powerplant was the 5.2-liter V8, generating 225 horsepower and 295 ft.-lbs. of torque. This engine generally equipped the 2500 and 3500 models. Other engines included another version of the 5.2-liter with a higher output of 230 horsepower and the 250-horsepower 5.9-liter V8. All engines belonged to Dodge's Magnum family of engines.

Suspension

  • All 2003 Ram vans featured independent wishbone front suspension with stabilizer bar and coil springs, while the rear was a rigid beam system with leaf springs. The vans were equipped with ventilated front disc brakes and rear drums. The axle ratio was 3.92:1.

  • Sizes varied depending on the model. The 2003 Ram 1500 was 192.5 inches long and sat on a 109.3-inch wheelbase. The 2500 and 3500 models were 208.5 inches long on a 127.4-inch wheelbase.
